Build a Budget That Actually Works for Your Business

Running a small business means dealing with numbers that shift daily. You need practical skills to manage cash flow, track expenses, and plan ahead without guesswork.

Our program runs from September 2025 through March 2026. We cover budgeting tools that fit real UK businesses, not theory from textbooks. Whether you're just starting or fixing a system that's not working, we help you get control.

Three Ways to Learn

Pick what fits your schedule and learning style. All three paths cover the same material but deliver it differently.

Weekend Workshop

Two full Saturdays in Plymouth. Hands-on sessions where you bring your actual numbers and work through them with guidance.

Good for people who prefer face-to-face learning and want to meet other business owners dealing with similar challenges.

12 hours total

Evening Course

Six Tuesday evenings, 6:30pm to 9pm. We meet online, which means you can join from anywhere in the UK without travel time.

Works well if you've got daytime commitments but can carve out a few hours each week. Sessions are recorded in case you miss one.

15 hours total

Self-Paced Track

Video lessons you watch when it suits you, plus monthly check-in calls. You set the pace based on how fast you need to implement changes.

Best for people with unpredictable schedules who still want structured guidance and a deadline to keep them moving.

Instructor Graham Patel specializing in small business finance
Instructor Leanne Morris with expertise in budgeting systems

Who You'll Learn From

Graham spent twelve years helping Plymouth businesses sort out their books before he started teaching. He's good at explaining complicated stuff in plain language.

Leanne ran her own cafe for seven years and knows what it's like when your budget spreadsheet doesn't match reality. She teaches the evening sessions and answers most of the email questions.

Both of them actually like talking about budgets, which is unusual. They focus on practical methods you can use right away rather than accounting theory you'll forget.

How It Actually Works

We don't believe in rigid schedules that ignore how real businesses operate. Here's what happens after you sign up.

First Month

You'll assess your current system and figure out what's missing. We provide templates but encourage you to adapt them. Most people realize they're not tracking the right things.

Middle Phase

This is where you build or rebuild your budget system. We cover forecasting, expense categories, and how to handle seasonal changes. You'll also learn to spot problems before they become emergencies.

Final Weeks

We focus on maintaining what you've built. How do you review your numbers monthly without spending hours on it? What should trigger a budget revision? How do you plan for growth?

After the Course

You get six months of email support for quick questions. We also offer optional quarterly reviews where you can check in and make sure you're still on track.

Next cohort starts September 13, 2025. Early registration closes August 15. We cap each format at 20 people to keep things manageable.

Questions People Actually Ask

These are the real questions we get from people considering the program. No fluff.

Do I need accounting experience?

+

No. We explain everything from scratch. If you know how to use a spreadsheet and understand basic addition, you're fine.

Most participants are sole traders or small business owners who've been winging it for a while and want to get organized.

What software do you teach?

+

We use Excel and Google Sheets for the core work. If you already use QuickBooks or Xero, we show you how to pull data from those systems.

The principles work regardless of software. We're not trying to sell you expensive tools you don't need.

Can I switch between formats?

+

Sometimes. If you start with evening sessions and realize weekends work better, we can usually accommodate that in the first two weeks.

The self-paced option is separate because it's structured differently, but you can add it later if you want more flexibility.

What if I miss a session?

+

All live sessions get recorded. You'll have access to recordings within 24 hours.

For workshop attendees, we provide detailed notes so you can catch up. Missing one session won't throw you off track.

Is there a refund policy?

+

Full refund if you cancel within seven days of registration. After that, we offer credit toward future courses if something comes up.

We've only had three refund requests in two years, and two of those were because people had to close their businesses unexpectedly.
